Every Designer Should Know This

I was emailed this by a colleague yesterday at work and I find it absolutely ingenious. Its a trick that Peter Van Blokland, a Type Designer/teacher in Holland, advised his students to follow when dealing with a design client and pricing projects:

There are four factors while working on a project: the deliverables, the price, the quality and the time. You ask the client to choose 3 out 4 factors and give you the right to choose only one.
And then the game starts.

Option a: Client chooses deliverables, the quality and the time...you choose the price.
Option b: Client chooses deliverables, the quality and the price...you choose the time.
Option c: Client chooses deliverables , the price and the time...you choose the quality.
Option d: Client chooses the quality, the price and the time...then you choose the number of elements to deliver.

So, if you are ever in need of my "services", please refer back to this post! Thank you!
