I WANT!!! =D
ReplyDeleteI love it xD
ReplyDeleteMust get annoying as hell.
ReplyDeletethat would drive you f'ing crazy.
ReplyDeletewhere can i buy this!?
ReplyDeletethat looks freaking epic, id love to get my hands on one
ReplyDeleteI love this!!
ReplyDeleteCan we buy this??????
ReplyDeleteim sure itll definitely get annoying after a while, but its interesting as a concept.
ReplyDeleteas for buying it, its still just a concept and not in production yet. Not sure it will be produced either. sorry guys...
I love it! I live ireland, it would get lots of use and nevr get old! Rawk and roll\m/
ReplyDeleteThe word cacophony readily comes to mind and not the pleasant warming up of the orchestra kind; rather the oh God make it stop, please just make it stop kind.
ReplyDeleteBring this to Seattle now!
ReplyDeleteNeeds to be collapsable. But I'm sure it wouldn't be loud or specific enough to be too crazy. Love it.
ReplyDeletewhen it's gray and gloomy outside , a little "different" noise is very welcome ,
ReplyDeleteI Love it !
mmmm not sure, So you have all the rain over your head and on top of this you will have all the street noise plus a drum banging on your head!? its probably a great idea if you want to have a breakdown!lol
ReplyDeletemmmmm not sure, So you have a rain over your head plus all the street noise and on top of that a drum banging on your head!lol
ReplyDeleteVery cool, love it :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Might be better with sustained ambient tones constrained to a harmonious frequency range, as the randomness factor of the rain could lead to some pretty agitated beats, or maybe thats what you're lookin for?
I wouldn't use the word "doom" in the illustration. It has negative connotation.
ReplyDeleteVery Cool!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you made it more wide and circular on the top, this would be a fantastic idea! Have you ever heard of The Fun Theory?
ReplyDeleteI like umbrellas that gradually slope downward. Dome umbrellas aren't very effective.
Great design. I love whimsical designs like this, great idea. Love, Joe's Mom
ReplyDeletewow, what a refreshing idea!!
ReplyDeletei need this!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't find any link to an mp3 or other audio recording of the sound of the rain drum. Everything depends on how it sounds...
ReplyDeleteI love the idea but I also desired to hear something. Even if the artist is just imagining what it will potentially sound like once constructed. In my imagination it sounds like poetry.
ReplyDeleteInteresting Design
ReplyDeleteI love the idea . The design articulation leaves something more to be desired though.
ReplyDeletefor those of you who want to buy it, You should know that it is still a concept, it hasn't been produced yet.sorry...
ReplyDeleteI like this!
ReplyDeletetoo bad it would sound like shit while you were walking in the rain
ReplyDeleteThat's dumbrella!
ReplyDeletelove it. want it. is it still in development stage or can i actually see one? would love to help you get it produced and tested.
ReplyDeleteJason,
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant!
I would love to do a feature post about your drumbella. I know other moms on my blog, kids and students will love it. Please let me know if it is ok with you. My email is alex.techymom@gmail.com. I will just need to know where they can buy it etc.
Thanks,
Alex
This is soo cool! Is there a way to turn it off if you need to talk to someone?
ReplyDeleteAlso, is there a way for me to get one??
Very creative but I seriously doubt it's 'music making'. Not sure if I want all that noise just above my head.
ReplyDeleteIt's still a cool idea though.
sorry guys, I dont have much more info about Drumbella since its still just a concept...
ReplyDeleteyou guys won't be able to get your hands on one until someone out there decides to produce it so keep on encouraging the designer Dong Min Park, if want that to happen...
not sure how it would sound...when it rains, all areas will be hit at the one time hence perhaps making a mish-mash of sound...good concept though...looks innovative and like most innovative and novelty things, sometimes they have to compromise on practicality.
ReplyDeleteHey, Nice,
ReplyDeleteInteresting concept.
u'd think people already woulda thought of that, i wanna hear what it sounds likee :)very kool
ReplyDeleteIf its affordable Ill buy 2!!
ReplyDeleteMakes "singing" in the rain fun again.
ReplyDeleteana min beirutn kamen!!! crazy idea man!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent idea. I hope you have a patent for this. You could make something big of this idea. I think you must have a lot of talent.
ReplyDeleteNah, wouldn't work. Maybe electronically with amplification, but otherwise just a slightly more annoying 'rain' sound. Stupid.
ReplyDeleteOvv yeee !
ReplyDeleteHow can I this ?
look like amazing
nice idea to catch for rhythm of rain !!!
ReplyDeletedonanım habere de selamlar...
taner
Please post an update when the drumbrella becomes available for purchase!
ReplyDeleteok, lots of people LIKE to hear the sound of the rain, so it might work as an umbrella to block rain from getting on you and as a cool sound the rain makes as you walk, sortof random and probably not as interesting as you'd hope. but put sensors in the thing-- have it make sounds on ly for larger drops or fast trills of smaller ones, or only groups of 2,3,4,5,6.? and according to where they hit on the umbrella (Tss tss tss they hit the cymbal area again) OR according to the pattern (steady, relatively, hits this, but fast timed beat multiple hits in groups of X might always sound the Y area?) sillier things have been done in kids toys and on computers.... and made money! good luck. SOMEONE will produce it, hope it is someone who pays off theperson who designed it here and gave them the idea!
ReplyDeleteNice design !! Good work - not sure I would buy one, but I'm sure someone will. Keep it up ! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove it. Could have done with the "F the rain" one on my last trip to England, but I think the musical one would get me arrested (making too much noise).

ReplyDelete:(
ReplyDeleteNice...
ReplyDeleteYou are so smart and creative.. I love this. I may get it. wait. I WILL get it
ReplyDeletetry making it.. and you would probably find that the size of the pad relates to the frequency of that drum being heard. Why is the base pad the smallest?
ReplyDeletehaha that would be really fun to listen to the music while walking in the rain. It's kind of like this huge guitar bike that this German guy built: http://shortform.tv/w/wtf/an-eccentric-german-inventor-builds-a-giant-guitar-bike
ReplyDeletei would die a happy girl with one of these.
ReplyDeleteOMG! That's genious! I would love to own that sometime in the near future. You are very creative. Luckily you're only the developer because producing it would be very difficult. I can't wait to see it in stores because then I can tell everyone I know who had the idea, first!
ReplyDeleteare you going to produce this?!!?
ReplyDeleteRandomly stumbled this, cool idea and sweet blog!
ReplyDeleteTo those with the mad skepticism:
welcome to the world of design
Holy shiiiit, living in seattle, I don't want this, I fucking NEED it.
ReplyDeleteIve been getting a lot of emails about Drumbella. but guys, again, I didnt design this. I dont want to be taking credit for something I didnt do.
ReplyDeleteThe designer is called Dong Min Park. And im not sure if it will be produced. Ill keep you posted on whatever info i get ok...
I want it!
ReplyDeleteIngenious! Would love to have one!!
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea!
ReplyDeleteCan you design one to sound like a marimba in the tropics?
ReplyDeletebeautiful idea. where can i get one ?
ReplyDeleteI couldn't find any link to an mp3 or other audio recording of the sound of the rain drum.
ReplyDeleteFlash Designers UK
Hmmmm Good idea ....
ReplyDeleteit's brilliant...
ReplyDeleteWhat a hot idea; does it come with drum sticks and a stand, in case the rain stops mid groove!
ReplyDeletethis is so cool, I would love to have one
ReplyDeleteIts veri interesting!
ReplyDeleteThe concept is good, but when rain hits all of them at the same time and constantly, it'll make your ears bleed D:
ReplyDeleteARG! I would go frackin' nutso!!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of those wanna-be bohemian pot-headed drummer idiots who are too bloody lazy to learn a REAL instument.
hhmmm...nice..
ReplyDeleteNo one sunk to "Dumbrella?"
ReplyDeleteBTW does it fold?
not sure actually..
ReplyDeleteLove the shape, the colors. Trying to imagine it closed, which makes me wonder... Regarding the rings holding the drum surfaces, how would they collapse so the drumbrella doesn't hinder a person when they get away from the rain?
ReplyDeleteI would like to make a suggestion, we must have the different types of shape of a umbrella, and also we need to have a competition for the umbrella, competition including its consecutive color and value of its design.
ReplyDeleteinteresting...
ReplyDeletehey yasmine ... this is a great concept! i would like to get my hands on one ... can you let me know if you are selling any ?
ReplyDeleteJust in case somebody misunderstands(and I can see some who already did lol) This is not any sort of electronic device. The material of the parts of the umbrella is supposed to create a frequency close to that of drums. Thus it won't be any more louder than other normal umbrellas. It just has different frequencies, that's all. No worry about loud bangings or batteries or anything like that.
ReplyDeleteThanx for the clarification. Unfortunately still a concept too guys, so no where you can buy it yet...
ReplyDeleteWow, what an amazing concept. I'd love to see a headphone jack so that you can listen to it on the go. Since this is something that appeals to all ages, I could see this being a huge seller! Inspiration...everywhere you walk.
